• Germany's largest PropTech event
  • IfW President Prof. Moritz Schularick as speaker
  • New focus: food retail
  • Congress the day before: impetus for liveable city centers
  • Hanover, March 1, 2024 - Despite the gloomy outlook for the real estate market, the Real Estate Arena, Germany's new and different real estate trade fair in Hanover, continues to show signs of growth. "The fact that we are receiving such a positive response from the market and are currently growing by a good 25 percent shows once again that the Real Estate Arena, with its unique profile in the real estate market, has established itself as a relevant platform for the future and opportunities," said Hartwig von Saß, Project Manager at Deutsche Messe AG. Around 100 days before the start of the Real Estate Arena, the organizers are expecting around 350 exhibiting companies and up to 6500 visitors on 5 and 6 June in Hall 4 at the Hannover Exhibition Centre.

In times when negative news about insolvent project developers, a standstill in residential construction and redundancies are on the rise, the Real Estate Arena can promise all participants real added value with its three-pillar profile. "The first pillar is our trade fair; the stands of the exhibiting companies are all about business. The second pillar is our extensive conference program, which offers both strategic orientation on key future issues and details on specific projects. The third pillar is innovation: the Real Estate Arena is the largest platform for the highly innovative PropTech scene. Thanks to the strategic partnership with the Blackprint network, up to 50 young companies will present themselves at stands; almost 200 will compete - for the first time in live pitches on two stages - in front of a jury of experts for the German PropTech Award," explains von Saß. "This unique mix guarantees a confident look into the future, which the companies can put to good use for their further business development in difficult times," adds Thomas Westfehling from co-organizer Real Estate Events GmbH.

In particular, the two-day conference program, now on three stages of the Real Estate Arena, promises exciting contributions in various formats. In addition to Eckart von Hirschhausen, known from television and as the author of widely acclaimed books on the subject of health, the President of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, Prof. Moritz Schularick, will take to the stage on June 5 under the motto "Resist the Punch" to give a detailed assessment of the economic situation and explain why the real estate sector in particular is so important in the overall social situation. Afterwards, Aygül Özkan, Managing Director of the German Property Federation (ZIA), will discuss sustainable investment strategies in uncertain times with experts. On the second day of the event, sustainability pioneer Prof. Michael Braungart will be on stage with Sebastian Scheels from Ratisbona. In addition, numerous rounds on the stages will revolve around the topics of ESG, transformation, diversity and numerous innovations and forward-looking projects.

The umbrella association of the housing industry GDW and VDW Niedersachsen Bremen will be presenting the "WoWi Quarter" for the first time at the Real Estate Arena. At the large joint stand, numerous housing companies will present themselves around the House of the Future, which the GdW is implementing with numerous technology partners. The central topics of housing construction will be discussed on a separate WoWi stage.

Food retail is also strongly represented at Real Estate Arena 2024, placing a conspicuous focus on a sector of the real estate industry that is proving to be resilient and promising in times of crisis. Leading companies such as Edeka, Netto, Kaufland, Lidl, Rewe, Penny, denn's Biomarkt and Rossmann will be presenting their latest concepts and solutions in Hall 4.

One stand in particular has attracted a lot of attention over the past two years: that of architecture students from Leibniz Universität Hannover. Under the project name "Ressource Architektur" (Resource Architecture), each year group is now a permanent fixture at the Real Estate Arena, designing the stand of the future. This year's motto is "reflexion". The students want to encourage visitors to reflect on previous developments in real estate planning and construction and to discuss future trends.

To kick off the Real Estate Arena, the organizers, in cooperation with the state capital of Hanover, the Hanover region and Drees&Sommer, are inviting visitors to a specialist congress in the conference area of Hall 19 on the exhibition grounds on the day before the trade fair. Current challenges and opportunities for inner city development will be discussed under the theme "Shaping and strengthening the city center". Interested parties can register here.
