Second edition of Real Estate Arena: Germany's new real estate fair grows despite difficult real estate market
Hannover (08.12.2022). Despite a difficult real estate market, the signs are pointing to growth for Germany's new real estate trade show, the Real Estate Arena. A good six months before the start of the second event on May 24 and 25, 2023 in Hanover, more than 100 companies have already registered. "This popularity shows that in times of uncertainty, the industry is looking for fresh formats and new platforms for networking, exchange and business development," said Hartwig von Saß, project manager of Deutsche Messe AG, in Hannover.
"In May 2023, Germany and the real estate industry will have come through a winter that many people are currently looking at with concern. Early summer will be the right time to define the position of the economy in general and the real estate industry in particular. Orientation in uncertain times and new partnerships for the future - that's what the Real Estate Arena stands for," said von Saß. A good 350 exhibitors and more than 5,000 visitors are expected in Hall 4 over the two days.
The Real Estate Arena as Germany's new real estate trade fair and networking platform focuses on the medium-sized real estate sector and the B and C cities. These cities have the same challenges as the large metropolises with millions of inhabitants, but until now there was no trade fair tailored to them for value-creating exchange. The Real Estate Arena will now bring together B and C cities with companies from all areas of the real estate process chain, creating space for new partnerships. In addition, the focus will be on the various aspects of a more sustainable development of the real estate industry and the achievement of ESG goals. "The success of the premiere in May 2022 has encouraged us to expand this forward-looking mix of topics and target groups under our motto "bold.controversial.close"," added Thomas Westfehling, Managing Director of event partner Real Estate Events GmbH.
To give even more space to the exchange, there will be another format for intensive discussions in addition to the two well-known stages. "The Table" enables in-depth discussions, the content DeepDive on selected topics. For two hours, up to 24 people will sit together at one table. "For millennia, people have been coming together at a table, discussing and developing ideas for the future. That's what we want to do at the Real Estate Arena, too; bring people together at the table who see the future as a creative space. Complex questions need complex answers - and good answers need time," said von Saß. In addition, further innovation formats are under development in the workshop rooms in Hall 4, combining the strength of collaboration and cross-innovation approaches.
The thematic blocks for the large arena stage were developed by more than 30 experts from the industry in a creative workshop. Neighborhood development/new residential construction, existing properties as the new new, ESG/climate change, what's next/innovations and digitalization are on the agenda. In addition, there is the topic "Shortage - what to do when there is too little of everything." "Energy, building materials, young talent and skilled workers, financing - we have too little of many things. What does that mean for the industry, what are the challenges? These are the questions that will be discussed," von Saß said.
In addition to many commitments from premiere customers, numerous new companies are also involved. With Rossmann and Edeka, for example, two strong brands have been won which, together with Lidl and Kaufland, will strengthen the retail sector. The Central Real Estate Committee ZIA will also participate in the Real Estate Arena for the second time. Managing Director Aygül Özkan will moderate a round with female investors on stage. Blackprint, as Germany's leading PropTech accelerator, will also participate in the second edition of the Real Estate Arena with a booth. The aim is to create a platform for around 30 PropTechs. Likewise, the Bundesverband deutscher Wohnungs- und Immobilienunternehmen e.V (GDW) will be participating in the Real Estate Arena with its "House of the Future" project and nearly a dozen technology partners. In this house, built from wooden modules, the association demonstrates what the future of residential construction in new buildings and also in existing properties could look like.
In the coming year, the Real Estate Arena will place a special emphasis on the economic development efforts of B and C cities. To this end, on May 23, 2023 - the day before the event - Anja Ritschel, Head of the Economic Development Department of the State Capital of Hanover, and Deutsche Messe will invite the heads of economic development departments from all over Germany to a one-day conference on the topic of commercial development. The conference will be supported by market researchers from Bulwiengesa.
